Along with icy champagne popping at midnight and fresh hot posole the day after, for me the new year brought another new thing: it was launching this website, a brand-new online shop dedicated to truly handcrafted work, all done by myself in my studio in sunny New Mexico.
Here discerning shoppers will find unique sewn and other fiber art items, from kids’ apparel to tote bags, from pillow covers to potholders, from classy accessories to---? Who knows toward what, and in which direction, this venture will take me!
Much of it is one-of-a-kind, most of it appears in limited-run quantities; my goal is creating the uncommon, and the uncommonly good, for those who still look for that which makes something special.
No matter though what flows out of my workshop, one thing is certain: all of it involves fabric, thread, yarn, maybe buttons and trims, perhaps some beads… the possibilities are endless, and new items are added as often as time and the muse allow.
Premium quality matters: all my creations rely on decades of experience learned from the ground up: in school starting in first grade, then as a 3-year apprentice in garment production in Europe, and finally as the sole owner/operator of my tailoring, fashion boutique, and custom sewing business of over 30 years.
Now retired from my shop obligations, I am devoting all my time to turning an impressive fabric stash into all the things you can find here. May they give you as much pleasure as it gave me making them.
